City Budget approved for 2007

The proposed Sarasota City budget for 2007 has been approved. The new budget which will total $21,822,568 represents an increase over last year of 28.95%. Because of the rapid increase in taxable values, the millage rate charges to each property will actually be adjusted downward by 0.3% to 2.9996 mils. The taxable value of properties in the city have increased 27.98 percent over last year and about 50% over that of just two years ago. The taxable value of City properties is now just under 10 billion.
