Not Here…

newpass Not Here...It may be surprising to some to know that the shores of North and South Carolina see far more storms than do Florida’s West Coast.   Sarasota, Manatee and Charlote counties are among the least likely of locations for a hurricane to make landfall.  Actually, Sarasota has not had a hurricane make landfall on it’s shores since 1921.  newpass2 Not Here...That hurricane damaged the fishing docks at Marina Jacks thus clearing the way for the upscale waterfront that Sarasota is so well known for.   An earlier storm created New Pass back in 1848 when it made landfall along the shores of Longboat Key.  We did have a close call in 1966, when hurricane Alma passed just offshore on it’s way to the northern waters of the Florida Panhandle.
