Sarasota Population Growth

An alternate headline could be, “Build It & They Will Come”. Despite the much publicized downturn in real estate sales, Florida has increased in population in 2006 by another 321,697 people. Florida’s population, now over 18 million has 20 of the top 100 counties in population growth nationwide. Sarasota and Manatee counties, among the fast growing counties had a combined increase since 2000 of 93,000 people. Sarasota’s population increased by 43,574 since 2000 and Manantee county increased by almost 50,000 over the same time period.
