Sarasota Housing Market Improving

Sales of homes in the Sarasota-Bradenton area improved in the second quarter of this year. There were 2,365 home sales in the Sarasota-Bradenton area from April to June this year. That is a 4% increase over last years total of 2,281 homes sales for the same period last year. The sales of condominiums increased 2% over last year. By contrast, home sales nationwide decreased by 11% and sales in Punta Gorda decreased by 30%. This increase is contrary to the larger Florida and the national housing markets. To those of us to live here in Sarasota it is no surprise. During past cycles Sarasota was the last to feel the downturn and among the first to see rebound. It is a testament to the overall quality and attraction of our town.
