Mooring in Sarasota Bay

January 15, 2009 by · 1 Comment

The Sarasota City Commission recently approved a measure that will establish a mooring field to better accommodate those that wish to moor their boats in Sarasota Bay. The new mooring field which will be managed by Marina Jacks will provide basic services to the boaters such as waste removal and secure mooring. The measure is intended to cut down on the number of derelict or abandoned boats that anchor in Sarasota Bay.

I am nearing retirement and used to live in Sarasota. I always thought it might be nice to buy a large boat and live on it, moored on Sarasota Bay.

Q: Can one rent a mooring and live 24/7 on a large boat on Sarasota Bay?

    Thank you.
