The store which has always been one of the areas favorite ice cream shops is now open on Lakewood Ranch’s Main Street. The original owners of the Big Olaf have opened the new store in the place previously occupied by Brusters Ice Cream. The store’s opening is a welcome addition to Lakewood Ranch’s Main Street shopping district and marks a recent resurgence in leasing in the area which has seen declines in the past year.

Good Earth Natural Foods Lakewood Ranch

The Good Earth Natural Foods Grocery is now open on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch. Local residents are please to have the new grocery store in the location previously occupied by Morton’s Market. Prior to Good Earth Natural Foods opening the space had been leased to Ada’s Natural & Organic Foods but the deal fell though as Ada’s began having financial troubles with it’s existing stores. The Concession Golf Club

The Concession Golf club was just ranked in the top 100 courses in Golf Magazine’s 2009 Course Rankings. Other accolades include ranking among Golf Digest’s 75 Best Practice Areas and ranking in the top 10 Residential Golf Courses in the U.S. by Golf Week.

GreyHawk Landing is a nice family community with large lots and large wide open spaces. GreyHawk Landing has a community center with pools, tennis courts, a playground and soccer fields. It is a wonderful neighborhood for children. This new neighborhood which was concieved and developed in the boom years has some great deals and developer closeout prices in the $200,000s. Currently there are 20 homes for sale ranging from $204,900 to $555,000. The average size of these homes is 2,740 square feet and the average price is $372,790. Legacy Golf Course

The Legacy Golf Course in Lakewood Ranch is soon the change hands. Due to the slowing economy the number of rounds being played have been down. The current debt to Textron Financial is not being adequitly serviced under the current rate of play. The course is not expected to close but the course will no longer be by Troon.

Pug Parade, Lakewood Ranch

The 12th annual Pug Parade will be February 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenbrook adventure park in eastern Lakewood Ranch. This event is fun for the entire family. All dogs are welcome but only pugs will participate in the parade and ensuing pug costume contest. If you are unable to attend, check back here after the event for pictures and video. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Humane Society of Sarasota County.

Lake Club Update

The Naples Based homebuilder, London Bay Homes which is developing one of Lakewood Ranch’s most prestigious communities, the Lake Club recently received over $17 million in investment capital from an unnamed investor. This new investor has obtained a twenty percent interest in the company. The Lake Club in Eastern Lakewood Ranch is a gated community of estate homes with many luxury amenities. Currently there are 15 homes for sale ranging from $1,300,000 to $4,208,850. The five most recent homes sales at the Lake Club range from $950,000 to $3,298,000. The average selling price was $1,621,600.
